Nostalgia
Well, it's been nearly two years since I've updated this blog. In fact, I had almost forgotten that I even had a blog. Still, I am feeling nostalgic today, so I thought I would write an update.
My life is busy these days. I am living in a beautiful apartment in Alexandria, VA, just minutes from Old Town. I have the luxury of being able to live by myself and decorate the apartment however I wish. I will grant you that it looks as if the arts exploded in my living room, but I love it. Gabby and I are very happy in our current home.
I am working Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at Stratford Landing Elementary School in Alexandria and Wednesdays and Fridays at Bailey's Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences in Falls Church. I love being a teacher, but I won't pretend that there are days I'd rather be doing something else. Still, I love working with children, and I have hopes that my love for the arts will rub off on a couple of them.
In the meantime, I keep busy with two classes for FCPS, workshops at the Kennedy Center, and playing in the Capital Wind Symphony. To be honest, I hate CWS, and I am counting down the days when I can quit. Just two more rehearsals and the first concert will be done. I love playing clarinet, but the stress, time committment, and bad manners of the conductor are not worth it. I am hoping that I can find more opportunities to play in other groups. One of my friends from high school and I are talking about starting a chamber group. I am also hoping to get back into the musical theatre world (my true love.) If I could play musicals for the rest of my life, I would be a very happy woman. Still, for the most part I am happy and content.
I am making some wonderful friends at work. Stacy lives three minutes from me, and we like to tour Old Town when we have the time. I am hoping to reconnect with my UVA, AHS, and SU friends, too. I could easily become a hermit if I am not careful. Therefore, if anyone happens to read this who lives in the DC area, let's make plans and hang out!
That's my life in a nutshell. I turn 28 in less than a week, which is an exciting milestone. This will be my tenth year of voting! Sometimes, I really love being an adult! Anyway, I suppose that's it for now. Much love!
