Life Lessons

The following is an exerpt from my diary, April 10, 1995. I was 11 or 12 at the time (I don't feel like doing the math to figure it out), so you'll have to forgive the writing. The words seem to fit with how I am feeling at the moment, though, so I thought it was appropriate.

Most of the time I just can't help not helping or being nice to people. Seeing other people happy gives me joy. I like being good. It makes you feel much better. I learned that if you are nice to people, even if they are mean to you, things usually work out better for you. I hate getting mad. That day when I was crying, I wasn't upset at [the instigator], I was mad at myself for getting mad and losing my temper and my patience. I truly do want to become a better person.
