Home Is Where The Heart Is
Today I thought I would check out the Camp Highroad website to see if anything had changed since the last time I looked. I was delighted to find that there were several new additions to the site, and I eagerly sat down to browse through them. To my amazement, I found myself getting more and more excited about the new camp sessions listed and the addition of the winter camp. Now, it's no secret that I didn't exactly have the best summer, and I had thought when the summer was over that I would not return. But, here I was sitting at my desk, reading through the session descriptions, and wishing that I was there. So, I asked myself how it was that I was able to so quickly disregard my complaints from the summer. The answer came quickly, and was astonishingly brief. Highroad is home. It's true. No matter how trying things get, or how frustrated I get, or sick I am (plague anyone?,) Highroad is still one of my favorite places. It is the place where I learned to be on my own for the first time. It is the place where I was introduced to Christ, and where I realized what kind of person I wanted to be. It is the place where I am totally free to be who I am, and where I met some of my dearest friends of all time. It is a beautiful environment, filled with hope, love, and the promise of a bright future. No matter where I go, or what I do, Camp Highroad will always be a part of my heart. So, if you are looking for a home of your own, check it out: http://www.camphighroad.org God Bless.
