Hug Time

Well, faithful readers, the summer draws to a close, and I for one am excited about the new beginnings awaiting me at Shenandoah. But, that will be the topic for the next post. I thought for this one I would concentrate on the end of summer, and what's been happening with me. First off, I now have a place to live. It's a lovely split-level house in Winchester, near the medical center. I love it, and I love the people living there, so I am really excited. They also have a dog, whom I adore. His name is Pepi. :) Second, I finally got a cell phone! If you would like the number, let me know, and I'll give it to you, but I'm not going to post it on here. Third, I am super excited about getting to hang out with my wonderful Molly. She just may be the coolest life guard ever. I am so glad that I met her at Highroad. She was totally my saving grace this summer, and I thank God so much that He brought us together. We are going to have such a great time this year. Watch out Winchester!!! Anyway, my last few weeks have consisted of finding a place to live, learning to drive, practicing my clarinet, and watching the Olympics. I gotta say, I am truly addicted. I watch just about every sport they show, and I am learning that I like more of them than I thought I would. I am especially taken with syncronized diving, and, of course, gymnastics. But, I have loved gymnastics ever since I can remember, so that's nothing new. I am especially liking the way so many countries are coming together in peace and goodwill. Anyway, it is late; I am rambling, and it is time for me to go to bed. I love you all! Namaste!

Well, okay, technically it's Sunday now, but just barely. Since I am suffering from Insomnia tonight as a result of the cold Laurie gave me, I thought I would take the time to update again as I talk to my dear friend Katie. Katie is one of the girls in Virginia Women's Chorus (VWC) and she totally rocks my world. She isn't technically my little sister in the group, but I say she is. Well, I am not in the group anymore, as I graduated, but it still counts. Katie and I share an appreciation for a lot of things, not the least of which are a cappella singing and Arches. Anyway, talking to her is bringing back my life at UVA and reminding me of how much I love being a Wahoo. Granted, I have my qualms with UVA, such as the whole Music Department, and the fact that you can risk your life at least twenty times a day crossing Emmet Street, but on the whole, I am really glad I went there. And nothing can discount the fantastic friends I made. Don't worry, as soon as I am able, I will come visit you all!

I suppose it is rather late in the summer to be reminiscing about school, but there you go. I didn't have much of a chance to do so this summer because of camp. Speaking of camp, it feels very weird not to be at Highroad. I miss everyone a lot. I definitely talked to Molly this evening for a really long time. I am sooo excited that she lives in Winchester. She's been my saving grace this summer, as well as being a totally awesome girl. And we have a church to go to: Braddock Street UMC. Yay! Now, I just need that apartment..... I can see that this blog is going to turn into one long stream of consciousness if I am not careful, so perhaps I better get back into bed and try that whole sleep thing again. Night!

Well, camp ended yesterday, and while I will miss the friends I made, I can't say I am too upset about seeing camp end. It was a challenging summer, to the say the least, but I do think I learned a lot about myself and my strengths and weaknesses. And, I now know how to make all sorts of fun crafts, so, if you are ever in need of such things, let me know. I am sure that at some point I will put up funny little anecdotes and stories from my summer, but for now, it shall suffice to say that I am done. I said goodbye to Bethany yesterday, and that was really hard. She is moving to Colorado, so I won't get to see her on school breaks anymore. I am really going to miss her, but hopefully I can manage a trip out to see her sometime. Road trip anyone?

As for now, I am spending my time trying to find an apartment so that I can actually go through with this whole graduate school plan. Many thanks to Molly for keeping me sane and for all of her help. I do have a church to go to, so that's a start. I am also trying to catch up with all of my friends that I've been neglecting while at camp. Last night, I went to a get-together with Brad and caught up with Kati, PC, and Will. It's nice to still be such close friends with the people I went to elementary, middle and high school with. It keeps me grounded and reminds me of how blessed I am. At any rate, this next week and a half will be busy, but hopefully productive. I love you all, and I look forward to regaining contact with you. And Deborah, congrats on becoming ordained!!!!!!!! I love you!
